About Kim Fahlen, LMFT

Licensed Therapist working with clients in Marin County, California
and online for California residents

Hi! I’m Kim, and I’m here to help you feel better

Feeling better can seem so far away, but it’s closer than you may imagine. Perhaps you haven’t found the right solutions that work for you – yet. We often approach our struggles by trying to solve a problem in our heads, and that will only get us so far. Neglecting our body wisdom and not tending to our physical needs will keep mental balance at a distance.

Feeling better once felt out of my grasp too. I had gone decades being unkind to my body and feeling inferior to others, constantly judging and second-guessing myself. Feeling paralyzed and overwhelmed, not taking action and then beating myself up for not making changes.

After 30 years of working in schools, and 18 years of being a licensed therapist, I’ve learned that true healing comes when I’m listening to my whole self, taking care of my brain and body, and living in the present moment. Every day I can decide to participate in life and engage with the world in ways that bring me joy, are in alignment with my values, and support my overall wellness.

You want to feel better but you need support

As a spouse and parent of 2 children ages 14 and 19, I know that life is busy and daily obligations can disrupt the self-care process making it daunting to find the time to focus on feeling better.  But the alternative of ignoring your internal issues is keeping you from feeling better; you don't have to go it alone.

Therapy is a dynamic partnership. Most people come to therapy because they feel stuck. And many people quit therapy because they feel like it’s not working.  My goal is to work collaboratively with you to make sure you are getting what you need and are moving forward each session.

I will regularly ask for feedback to make sure your needs stay centered, you feel seen and heard, and you are making progress. I’m here to guide and gently push you in the directions you want to go and offer strategies to help you get there. Therapy is a big commitment to your well-being and won’t be easy, but it can be a life-changing process when you have the right support.

I offer you holistic support that will connect the dots of your whole self. We will look at your recurring thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns and use somatic practices, such as breathwork, movement, and sandtray, along with cognitive behavioral strategies and mindfulness to go deeper into the body and your core issues.

Step into my office and feel at home. Take your shoes off,
get comfy and settle into your body.

Our bodies hold deep wisdom that the mind is not always aware of.  Learn to listen to those voices and reconnect your whole self – body and mind – to fully inhabit your life.

I know what it’s like to struggle, and I know what it’s like to feel better. Decide what you want and I’ll help you get there.
